California Avocados Direct
Redeem: www.californiaavocadosdirect.com
Do we have to tell you why you want a box of luscious avocados from California delivered to your door? Sunny California has the perfect climate, soil, and growing season for avocados, but buying them from the store can be a risky proposition. Buying them from California Avocados Direct is not. The company is run by the fourth generation of the Holtz family from their Escondido ranch. Getting a box directly from the farm means the creamy, rich avocados will ripen in your kitchen so you can enjoy them when they are the very best, and you get the satisfaction of knowing you’re supporting a family farm committed to sustainable growing practices. In Asia they use avocados in milkshakes and ice cream. You may prefer to mash them for guacamole, slice them to use on salads or sandwiches or fill them with seafood for an elegant appetizer or lunch entrée.
A California Avocado Timeline
The avocado (Persea americana) originated in Mexico, probably sometime between 7,000 and 5,000 BC. In 1871, a judge in Santa Barbara named R. B. Ord successfully introduced avocados to the U.S. with trees from Mexico. The most popular avocado, the Hass, was developed in the early 1930s in California as the result of grafting, and was patented by Rudolph Hass in 1935. Today, California grows about 90 percent of the nation’s crop.
