Barcito
By Maris Callahan
When you take celebrated chef Ryan Poli (formerly of Perennial) and let him loose to express his passion for Spanish food, you get Barcito, the 92-seat “stand-and-eat” pintxo bar with an ever-changing cocktail focus that features Latin spirits, kegs of red and white sangria, and small-production wines. Though a true pintxo bar requires that you stand and that you eat your snack in only two bites, you’ll want to break the rules at Barcito and savor the Ibérico ham, salty Mahón cheese and tender pork belly.

the crowd

After-work patrons pour in on weeknights, to be replaced once the sun goes down by the nighttime River North trendsetters.

... on the side

Pintxo doesn't bite
Barcito has its own adorable cartoon canine mascot named Pintxo, a Spanglish-speaking troublemaker who graces the chalkboard menus and is also the voice behind the bar’s Twitter.
