The moment you duck into the warm space—made homey with muted yellow walls and upholstered booths—the charm envelops you. Everyone seems to be smiling here, and the servers know how to be attentive but never overbearing (we dare you to try to empty your wineglass before you’re offered a refill). A collection of classics from the South of France, the dishes are plated with a precision that belies the modesty of the surroundings. Slices of beautifully pink lamb arrive on a bed of crisp-tender vegetables, the flavorful bouillabaisse is piled high with fat shrimp and pristine mussels, and the rich, hearty beef bourguignonne here is well worth going out of your way to get. But that’s the beauty of this friendly spot—if you live in Burbank, you won’t have to.
