5 super legit Taco Tuesday specials in Chicago

By Lauren Mandel

What do Tuesdays mean to you? To us, Tuesdays really only mean two things: that the weekend is still far away, and that it’s time to celebrate Taco Tuesday. The latter helps makes the weekend feel just a little bit closer, especially when it involves a special, discount, or deal. And in Chicago, there are plenty of deals for tacos, margaritas, and more. Here are five favorite spots you’ll want to check out next Tuesday—and every Tuesday after that.

Takito Kitchen
At Takito Kitchen in West Town, all tacos are normally $4 each, which is actually pretty reasonable to begin with. On top of that, the menu lists a taco for virtually every taste, from coffee-braised beef to a vegetarian grilled cheese taco. But Takito’s offerings get even better on Tuesdays, when you can get any taco for just $3. At that price, you’ll want to order as many as you can eat.

Tallboy Taco
What’s even better than Taco Tuesday? Tacos and cocktails, erm… Tuesday. Step up to the counter to place your order at Tallboy Taco in River North, and you can get your fill of both, in style: $2 tacos (try the salmon, which you don’t see in a taco every day), plus a glass of sangria for just $5. This is also one of the longest lasting deals around, running from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m.

If you’re craving a more upscale deal, this River North destination is the go-to. You won’t want to skip the house-made salsa and guacamole, but save room for the Taco Tuesday special which is available at the upstairs lounge: two tacos for just $7.50. All the classics show up, like chicken and steak, but live a little and try the lobster or red snapper tacos instead. Take advantage of this deal from 5 to 7 p.m. for happy hour, or show up after 9 p.m. for a late dinner.

We’ll say it again: When it comes to Taco Tuesday, there’s no underestimating the matching cocktail deal. At this new hotspot in the West Loop, you can help wash down all that guacamole with half-off classic margaritas and $15 beer buckets from 5 to 7 p.m. And for the tacos, fill a platter with your choice of four, plus rice and beans.

Rockit Bar & Grill
This River North bar and grill might not be the first place you think of for tacos in Chicago, but if you’re craving an alternative to classic Mexican tacos, you’ll want to head here on Tuesdays. Rockit does a bold and flavorful pulled pork taco, and from 4 to 6 p.m. on Tuesdays, these delicious tacos are half off.
