East Meets West Year of the Pig Cocktails at the St. Regis Hotel
At the Lobby Lounge of the St. Regis Hotel, limited edition cocktails are what’s on tap to welcome the Year of the Pig. From February 3 to 23, their “East Meets West” cocktail theme, in partnership with Suntory Distillery, includes a gingered Haku Vodka martini, a Toki old-fashioned with Suntory toki whisky, and the Roku gin and tonic with edible orchid and yuzu peel ($18 each). Pair your drink with oysters ($5 each) or lamb sliders with balsamic onion and tzatziki sauce for the full-on East-West flavor experience.

Chef collab at One Market for African-American History Month
Chef David Lawrence (1300 On Filmore, Black Bark BBQ) returns to San Francisco for a command performance with chef Mark Dommen of One Market. The duo—call it a chef collab—paired up to create a one-of-a-kind menu to celebrate African-American History Month. Running every night throughout February, the four-course feast features Chef Lawrence’s famous barbecue in the form of  salt- roasted baby beets and three-hour maple syrup–braised beef short ribs. Dommen whips up Cajun-style boudin while One Market’s pastry chef Mack Estrada rounds out the meal with a blood orange cornmeal cake. Wines by African American winemakers have been hand selected by One Market sommelier and wine director, Tonya Pitts. Also, while they are featuring wines by African American winemakers for February, wines have not been paired with each course – guests are encouraged to select their own pairings. Go all in for an extra $49 (excluding tax and gratuity) and 10 percent of the proceeds will be donated to the Museum of the African Diaspora—or sample à la carte.

Getting’ piggy with It: Lunar New Year menu from E&O
San Francisco’s Lunar New Year Parade will be on February 23, and E&O Kitchen and Bar will be passing out celebratory red envelopes to diners, filled with E&O treats. Lion dancers will perform inside the restaurant on parade day and whether or not the envelope fairy makes it to your table, be sure to savor the limited edition menu of small bites that feature—what else?—pig. Pork and chive dumplings ($15), pork belly salad ($17), and roast pork shoulder for two ($24) make a fine welcome to the Year of the Pig but the Mandarin “Firecracker” chocolate cake with Mandarin mousse and orange-ginger caramel practically begs you to pig out. Cockscomb’s Happy Hour Beer Pairings
From February 1 to 10, you can savor the flavor of craft brews paired with Cockscomb’s legendary eats. Start with a kolsch from Three Weavers ($5) and chicharrones and Cheddar cheese powder ($3). Mellow out with Maduro Brown Ale from Cigar City ($5) and house-made sausage ($6). Or sip an O- Bliss IPA in the can from Oskar Blues ($5) and nibble on Cockscomb giardiniera ($3). Happy hour means more snacks, including crispy pig ears and chile and lime potatoes. Yum.

Cassava four-course late winter tasting menu
Chef-owner Kris Toliao and his team change the menu at cozy Cassava to reflect the best of the day’s selections from local farmer’s markets, and February’s four-course tasting menu ($48) reflects NorCal’s current swing between winter and spring. Arugula and poached beets are brightened with blood orange and molasses-dijon dressing and Icelandic salmon arrives with buckwheat spaetzle and sunchoke velouté, although the fish course will depend on market availability. The menu features Cassava’s iconic black sesame panna cotta but, with Valentine’s Day arriving mid-month, that may change to everyone’s must-have chocolate cake. Wine pairings are available for an additional $32.

Bellota’s new Monday night flights
Ernest Hemingway’s time in Spain inspired numerous novels—and now provides inspiration for Bellota’s new Monday Night Flights. The February 11 edition features two flights of three wines ($20 each). Named for Hemingway novels, flight one looks at the many Spanish vermouths drunk in A Farewell to Arms and flight two’s The Snows of Kilimanjaro, takes you to the Canary Islands, just off the coast of African, where the story takes place. Wine director Erin Rickenbaker will be on hand to explain tableside. Reading Hemingway post-flight? Totally optional.

Copita tequileria y comida Wednesdays by the Fire
On Wednesdays in February, starting February 6, Copita chef Daniel Tellez shakes up the proteins seared on the restaurant’s impressive rotisserie, pushing chicken by the wayside to make room for leg of lamb. For $25, you can find yourself lulled by the rotisserie’s warmth, the slow turn of its spindle searing the meat until perfectly cooked, while enjoying tortilla soup or citrus salad with jicama, blood oranges, and watermelon radish. The roasted leg of lamb is prepared with pasilla dry rub and hoja santa, and served with buñuelos with Oaxacan chocolate sauce. There’s a two-person minimum, but of course this is a meal designed for sharing.

Brooklyn Brewery debuts on the West Coast
Recognizing the Other Coast’s rightful place as a premier beer destination, Brooklyn Brewery makes its debut appearance in the Bay Area during Beer Week. To celebrate its distribution in the Golden State, Brooklyn Brewery plays host at events around the Bay Area from January 31 to February 7. San Francisco, San Jose, and Oakland will all stage events and feature Brooklyn’s famous drafts, like their flagship Brooklyn Lager and Stonewall Inn IPA.
