Former Wolfgang Puck chef Antonio Medina and his wife, Lana, drew raves with their hyper-local, organic food truck, the Gastrobus, parked in Los Feliz. Now they’ve turned that success into a brick-and-mortar, blink-and-you'll-miss-it gem, wedged between a laundry and an old-time bar, with the truck, which still makes the rounds at various farmers markets, parked out front.

menu musts

Yukon golds are boiled and then flash fried, for a crisp skin that yields a soft interior, sprinkled with fragrant fresh dill and partnered with creamy garlic aioli. Pan-roasted free range chicken retains its natural juice and comes over sautéed shitake mushrooms, shallots, and crisp green beans tossed in the poultry’s thickened jus. In the crisp pork belly, a pleasant saltiness balances the sugars from the sweet and sour yams and coconut; hints of cilantro cement this dish as a standout. House-made bread. is the best—only $4 a loaf—and served with everything. view full menu here

Paying homage to its mobile roots, the walls of the pub are coated with the Gastrobus’ signature yellow hue, while street signs and license plates line the canary colored interior.

if this place were a movie, it would be
Indie darling Little Miss Sunshine—so charming and quirky that it actually works.
