Be Mixed makes happy hour a virtuous thing

By Anna Albaryan

Leave it to two Harvard Business School graduates to come up with a better way to drink. Searching for all-natural, sugar-free alternatives to the vodka sodas of their past, Cristina Ros Blankfein and Jennifer Ross decided they’d be better off making their own. The result? Be Mixed—a zero-calorie cocktail mixer that solves all your problems with humdrum cocktails in one fell swoop. By ditching the artificial flavors, preservatives, and added sugar, these ladies have taken the hitches out of happy hour without spoiling the fun.

Be Mixed’s creations shine in their simplicity. All three flavors of mixers—margarita, cucumber mint, and ginger lime—make it easy to impress your company with creative, sophisticated drinks that take only seconds to shake up. And because the mixers have zero calories, they make for one guilt-free celebration.

These all-natural mixers are sweetened with extracts from stevia and—more notably—monk fruit, nature’s health-conscious sugar alternative. Monk fruit extract is sweeter than regular sugar, yet doesn’t have the same adverse effects on your body, and is also chock-full of rich antioxidants. Doctor’s orders may call for a glass of wine, but this better-for-you hot toddy might just be your new prescription.

And if anyone knows how to eliminate unnecessary sweetness from cocktails, it’s Jennifer Ross who has type-1 diabetes herself. She recommends skipping the booze entirely to make a mocktail so guilt-free, you can take well-earned sips of it after coming home from the gym.
