Rick’s Picks—The perfect pickle

By Kristina Grish

Talk about being in a pickle: With 16 flavors of brined veggies from Rick’s Picks, we couldn’t decide which to test first. So we began with a tangy classic garlic dill called the People’s Pickle, and worked our way to savory Smokra—pods of aromatic okra with smoked paprika (we also wrapped them in prosciutto for good measure). The verdict? Every nibble was better than the last. We also love that all the pickles are made in season, using locally grown produce and premium spices, and taste just as great on top of a burger as when garnishing a cocktail. With snazzy names like Phat Beets (aromatic pickled beets), Kool Gherks (whole dill pickles), and Hotties (spicy Sriracha pickle chips), Rick’s products definitely appeal to adventurous palates. For more creative ideas, be sure to check out their pickle-tastic recipes for crostinis, paninis, salads, and deviled eggs. What a fun addition to your bar cart—right next to a pack of gum.
