On The Blackboard: June 8

By Claire Margine

Summer is just a few weeks away, so we’ve put together the perfect slate of food and drink fun to bring your spring to a spectacular close. Make a toast to Tuesday as you split a half price bottle of wine, enjoy a tantalizing Indian brunch, or earn free drinks for bringing cheese to a bar. Here are five food events, happy hours, and brunches happening right now that you won’t want to miss.

The Great Mac and Cheese Melt Off
Have you always wondered who makes San Francisco’s best mac-and-cheese? June 11 is your chance to find out, at the Great Mac and Cheese Melt Off, where thirteen food trucks will come together to show off their versions of the classic comfort food. Vote on your favorite mac-and-cheese, then grab some beers and play a few rounds of giant Jenga, foosball, and cornhole. General tickets are $5, but for $35 you can have all you can drink of craft beer, too.

Redford Half Off Wine Bottles All Night on Tuesdays and Wednesdays
Happy hour at Redford always includes half-off select bottles of wine from 5 to 7 p.m., and on Tuesdays, that happy hour runs all night long. Even sweeter is the fact that Wednesdays mean half off all bottles of wine. Peruse their delightful wine list and split a bottle (or two) with a few friends. Happy hour also includes bar food favorites like spinach artichoke dip and tater tots served with a kalamata aïoli. Make a night of it with inexpensive appetizers, 50 percent off wine, and the discovery that Tuesday and Wednesday can be the perfect midweek celebration.
