West Restaurant & Lounge

West Restaurant & Lounge
Too often, iconic LA buildings get redos that zap their pizzazz. But this Italian steak house, at the Hotel Angeleno, knows how to play up a good thing. It’s perched on top of the former Holiday Inn overlooking the 405 in Brentwood. Though the restaurant doesn’t rotate (sigh), the views do go on for miles—a fabulous backdrop for swilling martinis and digging into rich, smoky steaks and handmade pastas. Floor-to-ceiling windows and a sunken lounge tricked out in Ultrasuede add to the glam quotient. And despite the business travelers and families who have wandered up from their rooms, the vibe is pretty swank—especially on Monday jazz night, where you might catch a Grammy-winning trumpet player.
