Blueprint Tap Room

By Sharron Wood

Though you’re likely to sit next to a gaggle of game designers, or maybe a few Twitter types (both offices are nearby), it would be a shame to let the digerati have this neighborhood newcomer all to themselves. Sure, the concrete floors, high ceilings, and chandeliers of metal mesh give Blueprint Tap Room a high-tech vibe, but the satisfying American eats warm it up with a lot of soul. Starters such as the Blueprint Wings—super-crisp and lacquered with a sticky glaze that’s equal parts sweet, salty, and tangy—are the perfect foil for a menu of about twenty craft beers on tap, including many from Northern California. Gumbo that’s hot enough to make you sweat benefits from being paired with a quenching Belgian-style blonde ale made by San Francisco’s own Social Kitchen and Brewery, while a perfectly pan-roasted filet of salmon with a bright green tarragon vinaigrette shows off the chef’s lighter touch.

sweet seats
Counter seats looking out onto Eight Street are popular with solo diners who flip open their laptops or fiddle with the iPhones during dinner.

at your service
The enthusiastic young servers are happy to geek out about the beer menu, discussing how, say, the coffee notes of a Calicraft Oaktown Brown Ale might play with the bread pudding. If you need further convincing, they will cheerfully pour a taste so you can see for yourself.
