Nutrious, organic, vegan—Locali Venice has you covered

By Keyla Vasconcellos

Another hidden gem along Lincoln Boulevard, Locali Venice is a find with a history—the founders have already built an award-winning reputation with outposts in Franklin Village and the DTLA Fashion District over the past seven years. Part organic market and part fast-casual gourmet deli, Locali’s bright, fresh appearance echoes a menu offering a range of nutritious dishes that will please vegans and omnivores alike.

The bounty starts with breakfast; passing by on your morning commute for, say, The Elvis, a healthy peanut butter and chocolate blend made with hemp milk, is so good you’ll likely forget how nourishing it actually is. The award-winning “Baaadasss” breakfast sandwich piles on sausage, “cheddar,” chipotle sauce, and maple syrup—all of them vegan. Sweet and salty come together for a harmonious bite that has the power to turn a carnivore into a vegan believer. If that’s not enough, take it over the top by upgrading to the Sir Nasty, which adds grilled onions and an extra dose of heat from Sriracha.
Locali’s lunchtime sandwich game is equally as strong, with a diversity of vegan and vegetarian choices coming out on artisan breads. Smothered in a vegan Russian dressing, the Rueben starts with marinated vegan deli slices, then adds vegan cheese (or Swiss), and sauerkraut for a veg-friendly take on the deli classic. Sub non-GMO turkey if you’d like, or just go for the Georgia Blonde, a flawless creation incorporating turkey, red cabbage slaw, and creamy dill dressing. Either way, meat lovers can get their fix; likewise, Locali is happy to accommodate other dietary adjustments.

If the workday got ahead of you before you had chance to make it out for a meal, it isn’t too late to wind down in casual comfort. Locali regularly closes out the evening serving gluten-free beer and a variety of wines alongside their fresh, organic favorites.
