Loving Cup

By Amy Sherman

Loving Cup
With a triumphant name like Loving Cup you shouldn’t be surprised to learn this cute little shop has garnered awards from 7x7 and SF Weekly for their divine Coconut rice pudding. The shop has an old-fashioned ice cream parlor vibe and should be the destination of choice when craving a light sweet treat. The menu is small, but features some of the creamiest confections ever from luscious rice pudding to smoothies and frozen fat free yogurt, (real yogurt not mystery mix). Just right for the holidays, the store also offers frozen yogurt pies that are a whole lot healthier than ice cream pies, but just as yummy.

the crowd

Girls stopping in after the gym down the block, check. Moms with kiddos, check. Locals from the neighborhood and tourists (who have just climbed the crookedest street in San Francisco) check. It’s a popular spot with just about everyone.

... on the side

decibels
Quiet with strains of Morrissey in the background; though if you want some more city atmosphere snag a seat on the wooden bench out front.

eye for design
Almost beachy white with a clean shabby chic feel, it’s retro with apothecary jars on a marble counter and yet feels modern at the same time.
