Patxi's Chicago Pizza

Patxi's Chicago Pizza

By Tamara Palmer

Patxi’s will feed you well and guarantees you will never leave hungry. A popular choice that really shows off the Patxi’s signature style is the Matt Cain, an authentic Chicago “stuffed” pizza named after the San Francisco Giants starting pitcher who pitched the twenty-second perfect game in Major League Baseball history earlier this year. It may look deceptively light when it lands on the table, but the many layers of garlic-fennel sausage, cheese, a second layer of dough, and a fruity-sweet tomato sauce on top, all wrapped in a thin crust, make for the perfect pie. And you can’t help but smile when you say, “I’ll have a Matt Cain with onions.” FYI: The cool new-ish Campbell location features a full bar and a private dining room and TVs to catch Cain in action.

If you ask your server for a recommendation, it’s clear that the people who work at Patxi’s have a passion for the food here. Without asking, we might have missed out on one of our newest obsessions: the artichoke dip.

Low, unless a game is on.

It’s a well-kept secret that Patxi’s on Irving Street in San Francisco’s Sunset District has one of the few heated patio areas in the neighborhood. Finally, people have a nice al fresco option in the area—one that doesn’t involve freezing.
