Ah, happy hour. If only it wouldn’t end before you get the chance to pry yourself out of the office. Luckily, RN74 is giving you another crack at it, bringing happy back later in the evening. The trim, curated lounge menu centers around artful cocktails like a seasonally inflected Pimm’s cup, or The Wailer: rum perfumed with kaffir lime and elderflower—Tiki by way of the Silk Road. House wines and beers are no throwaways, either, culled from the restaurant’s extensive collection. At seven dollars a plate, the bar bites offer affordable luxury—plump, soft escargots swimming in butter and garlic, or creamy burrata with grilled wild mushrooms and pine nuts, begging to be laid atop rustic slabs of bread. Even the fries exceed expectations, fried crisp with fluffy insides, ready to be dunked into fragrant saffron aioli.

The lobby of the Millennium tower, which the lounge area extends into, is vacuous, but the judicious use of dropped slatted ceiling panels and the warm glow of Edison bulbs creates an environment that is cozy and intimate.

The front of house staff is nearly uniformly slender, willowy, and beautiful, but these are no mannequins. The service is warm, friendly, and always engaged without being in your face.
